PALS-INITIAL (Alexandria Classroom)

The American Heart Association PALS course gives healthcare professionals the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. 
The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest. 
The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

Course Content:

• Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest
• The systematic approach to pediatric assessment
• Effective respiratory management
• Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant  and child
• Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
• Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
• Effective resuscitation team dynamics

CertificationAmerican Heart Association PALS Provider Course Completion Card valid for two years.
Students receive their cards by mail within 5-7 business days of the class.

Length:  Day 9am-2pm Day 2:  Appx: 9:3am-1pm

Materials: PALS Provider Manual.  It can be used as a reference on your test.

Our Alexandria classroom is our original and fanciest location.  The classroom is bright and big and comfortable.  There is a very nice coffee shop on the ground floor.  There is free coffee and tea on our floor.  We are located right across from the King Street metro station in Old Town.  

A current PALS Provider Manual is a requirement for the class.
