Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

1. What is the blended learning option?

The blended learning allows learners to go over a PALS online Precourse Work at home in a self paced mode. The student then attends an in-person hands on skills session to review content and demonstrate skills. The online course lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This prework allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom.

2. What is the benefit of this method?

  • Minimizes classroom portion time; in the old method learners spent alot of time in class watching videos, now that can be done from the convenience of somones home.
  • Allows for self paced learning; now learners can pause, resume, or repeat videos as many times as needed to take notes and understand the concepts presented, which was not permissible in the old method.
  • Allows instructors and learners to spend more time focusing on practicing skills and team dynamics.

3. How do I access the online componenet? upon registering for the class you will receive a confimration email with a link and detailed instructions about completing the online precourse work. The online course is not included in the rgistration fee above.

4. How long is the hands on skills session? the in person hands on skills session is roughly about 1 hour depending on learners experience and the number of learners in class.

5. Who should take the Online course? While anyone can take the online course we always reccomend first timers or greatly expired students take the class in-person.  The in-person class provides a much more in depth learning experience.

6. How different is this from the 1 or 2 day renewal or Initial classroom course? This will lead to the same certificate (AHA PALS); as the old 2 days course for initial, it is just delievered in a bledned format.  Online and then a Skills Check.  However, we always recommend the in-person class for its added instruction.

7. Can I take BLS or ACLS same day? Yes you can add BLS or ACLS or both to your registration and the hands on skills sessions for all can be done the same day.

 9. Is the book provided?  The online class includes an Ebook version of the PALS manual saving you 45 dollars or so.

10. How do I get the book? The ebook is included when you register and you can download it once you start the class.

If you need another copy of your card because it got lost, stolen, or damaged we will mail you one within 7-10 days.
